This is the second printing of issue 1 of the Proverb Peddling Zine: Philosophy for Wisdom Lovers. It's half commonplace book of wise sayings and half exposition on wise sayings. I collect some of my work on philosophical sententiae or wise sayings, in the articles, I give practical wisdom I've found, and then I share some of the wise sayings I've found in the commonplace book section of the zine.
This issue includes:
- an essay on Blaise Pascal's philosophical anthropology
- two practical wisdom essays: 1. how to find wisdom and 2. how to teach yourself almost anything by making your own courses
- two entries from my commonplace book of wise sayings in which I share 50+ wise sayings I've collected
- and an collection of some of my own aphorisms.
This project is my attempt to bring wisdom back into the philosophical world one issue at a time and to help reignite the habit of publishing one's commonplace books. I love wisdom and I'll continue to share what I've gleaned with you.
